While the NBA owners and players are still deadlocked in the reaching a new agreement, putting the season in jeopardy, Lebron James have been visiting Liverpool to check up on one of his investments as part of the Fenway Sports Group, the Liverpool FC parent company run by John Henry and Tom Werner.
I'm not sure how much Lebron James knows about football and the Liverpool FC players, but he handed out custom Beats by Dr.Dre headphones with an LFC design to each player, which for most players they could afford with less than an hour salary. You can see a video of the meet here.
Lebron has had to take some flack in the media following the event as well, where he was handed a Liverpool jersey with his own name and number, while he himself handed LFC captain Steven Gerrard with one of his own Miami Heat jerseys. Did someone say 'big ego'??

Street by 50: the wired version of 50 Cent over-ear headphones
50 Cent and his SMS Audio has been busy in recent months working on the release of their headphone line up to rival the likes of Beats by Dr.Dre in the celebrity headphone market. Earlier they have announced the Sync by 50 wireless headphone, and now we get to meet the wired version; the Street by 50 headphone.
Street by 50 seem to share many similarities with the wireless version, including the 40mm drivers, memory foam earcups, and these as well are professionally tuned. The main difference, besides the wired connection of course, is the lack of the earcup media controls on the Street by 50 version. I would expect that those controls will be found on the cable, including the mic for call functionality.
There is no word yet on price and exact release date for the Street by 50, which will be available in the blue color on the picture, but also in an all black version. It is also believed that they will be launched as part of a line up that includes the wireless Sync by 50 and a pair of in-ear models as well.

House of Marley and Beats by Dr.Dre stand out amongst celeb headphones
We all know that slapping a famous name on a product does not equal quality, and unfortunately we see this every now and then in the headphone market as well.
Following the success of the Beats by Dr.Dre range of headphones which was the spark of the current celebrity headphone trend, several other brands and celebrities have jumped on the wagon, perhaps with their eye on some quick bucks instead of delivering quality products to their fans.
This was highlighted in a recent review done by Sound & Vision magazine, using a panel of experts that evaluated the different brands and headphones based on a range of criteria. To put it mildly, for some of the headphones the results were bad. Editor Geoff Morrison said amongst other:
Moral of the story; even if a headphone is endorsed by your favourite artist, it could be a good idea to test them out before buying.

"Rarely have I come across such flawed (and often just plain bad) product as what we saw in this roundup."While many of the celebrity headphones got bad reviews, there were some exceptions, including the Beats by Dr.Dre Pro headphones and the House of Marley Exodus, both praised for their durability and enhanced acoustics.
Moral of the story; even if a headphone is endorsed by your favourite artist, it could be a good idea to test them out before buying.
