Following the success of the Beats by Dr.Dre range of headphones which was the spark of the current celebrity headphone trend, several other brands and celebrities have jumped on the wagon, perhaps with their eye on some quick bucks instead of delivering quality products to their fans.
This was highlighted in a recent review done by Sound & Vision magazine, using a panel of experts that evaluated the different brands and headphones based on a range of criteria. To put it mildly, for some of the headphones the results were bad. Editor Geoff Morrison said amongst other:
"Rarely have I come across such flawed (and often just plain bad) product as what we saw in this roundup."While many of the celebrity headphones got bad reviews, there were some exceptions, including the Beats by Dr.Dre Pro headphones and the House of Marley Exodus, both praised for their durability and enhanced acoustics.
Moral of the story; even if a headphone is endorsed by your favourite artist, it could be a good idea to test them out before buying.
